About Bless
If you're wondering about me, read this.
My name is Blessing, but please call me Bless. My pro-nouns are she/her/hers, and I am 18 years old. I was born in Nigeria and raised in Boston. Both are home, and in different ways, they feed my soul. Nigeria with its resilience, people, rhythm, dance, and food, and Boston with it's celebrated differences, graffiti, talent, opportunity, neighbors, and food. I am an extroverted introvert, an introverted extrovert or an ambivert: whatever makes the most sense to you; everyone argues something different. I am a writer, a poet. No matter what I write, I strive to write with honesty and authenticity. My goal: to give people the companionship I found in reading when I was young. Speaking to that, I'm a total bookworm. I'll read anything, but I might not like it. Be ready to hear my opinion if I don't. After high school, I plan to pursue higher education and keep developing myself as a person. My favorite quote is “I live so I love” (Kim Namjoon), and I strongly uphold the belief that a park is not complete without a set of swings.
Now, let's get to the reason you're really here: food
I'm actually a really picky eater. And, despite my love for cooking, it's not something I would love to do every day. In fact, I originally preferred baking to cooking. So, why food? Recently, I've been able to personalize the cooking experience. It's made trying new recipes and learning about different meals more interesting. I want to understand more than just ingredients, measurements, and steps, but also how all those factors equate to the feeling after you eat or share your finished product. Food is powerful because of its ability to nourish relationships, and my theory is that it stems from that feeling. It provides people the opportunity and then the toolbox to relate to one another.
So, personally, I believe that I am very bless[ed] to be fed.
